Value of items
« on: September 04, 2007, 10:32:22 AM »
I have come across some items and would like to know what they are worth?
-A numbered Christmas picture of Mickey, Minnie and Goofy around a tree 655 of 1000
-A copy of Disney News dated Summer of 1987 with o signed picture of Snow White inside
-A pictorial book that was put out before EPCOT was open to show what it would look like and the opening date ???
-A Pocahontas program? that was (I guess) given out at the premiere in the park n Central Park, New York on June 10, 1995
-A commemorative Program for the 50th Anniversary of Fantasia

I've seen these appear from time to time on Ebay and they don't sell for a ton of money (less than I was expecting, but I'm an Epcot nut  ;D )

Some of them don't sell and others will sell for $20 or so.  Of course, yours may be different than the ones I'm thinking of, so be sure to do your own due diligence when choosing a sales price!

I have a Viewliner conductors cap made by Hirsh.  How do I find out what it is worth?  How do I start a post?  I do want to sell the cap, but I will not try to sell it until I find out its value.  My wife bought the cap at a garage sale in Anaheim over 40 years ago.

Ordinarily, I'd suggest that you start a separate topic and tell you how, but since the original poster used such a broad topic and I'm not going to be a lot of help anyway, let's just go with what we have here.

If its the same pin-striped, soft cloth train engineer's cap that I found a picture of, it's pretty neat.  Its the sort of thing that would appeal to both Disneyland and train collectors.  I honestly don't know the market value of your Viewliner conductor's cap, but in the right auction or collectibles sale, I'd expect it would be worth somewhere between $50-100.00.  Perhaps a bit more.  The Viewliner was a short-lived attraction that ran for about a year between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland starting in the summer of 1957.  The fact that it's a Cast Member costume piece that comes from a vintage attraction adds to the cachet.  The only thing that would detract from it's collectibility would be the fact that there will only be a limited number of collectors who would actually have seen or ridden on the Viewliner, so you have little chance that someone would be recapturing a childhood memory.  And, of course, condition is important, too.  If it's frayed or dirty, that will hurt quite a bit.  I hope this helps.

It is not the stripped soft cap.  It is circular and blue in color with a hard black bill.  I have pictures but do not know how to send them.  It has the metal Viewliner plate on it.

I'd expect it would be worth somewhere between $50-100.00.

?????

You are kidding with these estimates, right?  A Viewliner costume piece is one of the rarest Disneyland items.  You are aware that even a well-worn Disneyland Railroad Conductor hat with the metal badge sells for a minimum of $400, yes?  Were a Viewliner hat to come on the market, the Disneyland collectors would go nuts.  It would sell for $1,000 at the minimum, and if two hardcore Disney railroad collectors got in a bidding war, the sky is the limit.

I would email Phil Sears about it.  He's the best person to market vintage Disney memorabilia.  You can contact him via his website..  http://www.phil-sears.com/index.htm

Plus I would head over to http://www.burnsland.com/disneyrailroads/ and post some images of your hat there.  That site is where all the hardcore Disney railroad fans chat.  They will go crazy for your item.
