Dumbo and Pinocchio sound track LP and dumbo story book
« on: September 04, 2010, 04:47:03 PM »
hello all

My wifes mom passed away a few years ago and we  were  cleaning the attic cause we were getting ready to rent her place and I found the following things. its two   record books of the sound tracks for   the movie Pinocchio and Dumbo. The Dumbo  record book  has a  story book looks to be   a complete story. here are some pics. The books seem to be in great shape and the copy right  on one of them is 1943 for the Dumbo   book. one of the books seems to have a 1941 copyright.
My wifes mom died at 94 years old. When she was young she used to sing back up for the disney movies. She had a  little book where she kept notes of what movie she sang for on whatever date and how mch she was paid. its funny  to see 20$ for a paycheck but  back  in 1940 that was a lot of money for a days work.
jsut trying to get a idea of   if there is any  real worth to these so i can have them appraised locally and  then  added to my homeowners policy.
Thanx for any help

Most Disney records sell for just a couple of dollars because the music is still available on CDs.  And with all of the work Disney has been putting into their CD's for the past 10 years or so, they're much better than the records ever were.

Yours is an exception because of the book and it's vintage.  It's from the era of the original release of Dumbo and is obviously filled with great images.  I'd value it at around $30-40.00 retail.  If you added your wife's mother's notebook to the mix, it could be worth quite a bit more - especially if the notebook referred to the specific Disney movies she was working on.  In any case, this is a very nice Disney collectible.  Good luck!
