We received a Tree of Life and base as a gift in 1998 when the park opened. The plaque on the front of the base says May 1998, though I believe the park opened in April 1998. It has been taken out of the box just 2 times, including to take the pictures below. My father-in-law, a Disney employee, bought it for us and told us that it was supposed to have been destroyed (as far as he knows others were and he lucked out in finding this one in a shoo). We even have the purchase receipt. I've googled every search string I can think of to find the value of AK collectibles with the wrong date, but, I suppose since this is a rare item, there is nothing I can find.
Any idea if it has any value? Should I continue to let it take up space in my closet in hopes it might become more valuable some day?
