The first Disneyland guidebook with drawings of the attractions generally sells in the $80-100.00 range. It was originally sold with a mailing envelope that most people threw away, but having that envelope increases the value by about 50%. Disney actually sold them for just about their cost, but I've heard several Disney Imagineers who worked then credit that guidebook with doing a lot to making Disneyland successful because people did send them to friends and relatives or shared them once they got back home. The later "Disneyland in Natural Color" guidebook, released in late 1955, with color photos of the attractions sells for about $150-175.00. Californians, of course, made up the vast majority of the park's first visitors during the warm summer months, but the park's attendance continued to grow through the fall and winter as the rest of the country started to vacation there. That's why Disney made the second better guidebook in 1955, and why they made a new one every year through the 1960's, and continue to publish them to this day.
