Fantasia, 1940, signed by Disney & Stokowski
« on: July 13, 2010, 05:39:59 AM »
I am trying to find out, for a friend, how much their book 'Fantasia', 1940, 1st edition, signed by Walt Disney & Leopold Stokowski is worth.

I have looked up a few references on the internet that have Walt Disney's signature only and reported it to my friend. My friend thinks due to Leopold Stokowski signing it, the price would be quite high after taking into account the book has only minor wear and tear and some other items of note that may reduce or increase the value??

Embossed in gold on the front outer cover with the 1st owner's name, the one Walt signs it to. There is also their name and address is stamped(faded) on the inside, front cover.

There is a damaged corner, what looks like where the book has been dropped on the corner and so it has half an inch worth of slight 'crumpling.

The first page has a small hole in it.

All the pages and illustrations and cards are in excellent condition after that first page.

The outer cover has a plastic protective cover over the Blue outer cover. The blue outer cover has wear, but from what I have seen of 3 books online it is minor in comparison.

I have photo's if you would care to examine them. I am only an amateur photyographer so please forgive the quality of the pics.

I appreciate any assistance you can provide in giving me a ball-park figure on this item and or any leads to where would be an ideal place for the item to be examined professionally in the Southern California region.

Thankyou,

Vincent.

That's a fabulous collectible.  The Go-To Guy on Walt's signature is Phil Sears at http://www.phil-sears.com/.  Phil's one of two or three acknowledged experts in the world, and is an honest dealer.  He'll be able to tell you all you want to know about your piece.  Good luck!
