Early Mickey Doll
« on: July 10, 2010, 12:34:04 PM »
I just discovered this sad looking little fellow amongst my late dad's things. A little (a lot) worse for wear, I think it's Mickey Mouse. He's 12" tall from head to bottom of foot, made of felt with a velveteen face. His pants are blue although they are quite faded. I'm looking for some help in identifying the maker, year and whether or not anyone would want him in this state.

Thanks in advance for your help  ;D

Your Mickey does resemble some early toys, but it looks like an unlicensed product to me.  The quality of your toy just doesn't seem to be in line with the vintage Mickey's I have in mind like the Charlotte Clark or Steiff's.  Small manufacturers would make knock-off Mickey toys for small stores and carnivals who didn't care about the legal niceties. They just had to be very inexpensive.  I think that's what you have.  His condition is probably going to put off most collectors, anyway.  He's certainly got more sentimental value for you than what he'd bring in a sale.  Good luck!
