1959 Golden Press Book - Walt Disney's People & Places
« on: September 15, 2007, 06:35:48 PM »
This is my first message on the Forum and I'm not sure how all of this works but her goes. I have a 1959 176 page book that I'm not sure if it has any value to the Disney lovers out there or not. Does anyone specialize in books from Disney?

It's in good shape. Looks like the pages have barely been opened but the hard cover looks aged on the corners a bit.
It was written by Jane Werner Watson and the staff of the walt disney studio.  At least that is what it says on the inside pages. It's based on the 'motion picture series - people and places' Only one copyright is in the book 1959 by walt disney productions.

Any clues if this book is important to anyone out there?  Should I try ebay?

I ran this by a book collector to try to get more info you and here's what she said.

Obviously, to a book collector condition and edition are very important.  Is it a first edition, meaning that it's the first printing of the first edition?  Is it like new, fine, very good. . . ?  (Terms of art in the book collecting world.)

I ran this book, entering "warner" as the author and "walt disney people places" as the title, and you can do that too.  Search result:  64 books, mostly priced under ten bucks except for one signed by Walt Disney himself.  That's the other factor affecting price/value - association copies (associated with the subject matter, prior owner of the book is somebody of consequence, signed by the author, etc.).

Also, I ran an advanced search in the books section at amazon.com and turned up a few used copies for sale, most if not all for less than ten bucks.

I don't know about specific Disney collectibles, but it looks like that book is generally available for a modest price.

So, it sounds like you might not have anything too valuable :( but you can still try Ebay or something like that.
