Unique Collectible? Retired Disney Monorail Car Listed on eBay

April 3rd, 2007 · 1 Comment

You’re unlikely to find a more unique eBay Disneyana auction as this one.  Bidding recently ended on a retired monorail train car used to carry tour passengers throughout Disney World from 1971 to 1999.

According to the auction description, this Red Mark IV front cabin unit has logged over a million miles.  The car is 40 feet long and weighs over 21,000 pounds.  It was purchased directly from Disney World and currently rests on a flatbed trailer.  It is unknown how much was originally paid for this unique piece of Disneyana, but the closing bid of $57,100 did not meet the reserve.

You can view the completed auction at the link below, but this link could be pulled by eBay at anytime since the auction is over.  One thing that stands out about this listing is the seller’s poor spelling and grammar.  You would think an item with a reserve above $50,000 would call for more attention to detail in the posting.  I also found the listed “possible uses” very entertaining.  My favorite has to be…“Could be set up as transpertation from front yard to back yard.”

Umm…how big is your yard dude?
