Forgotten Disney Movies

Fans of Disney Movie Memorabilia will certainly want to check out Michael Flint’s “The Forgotten Disney Animated Feature Films of the Forties”.

Michael reviews the following movies, and discusses pertinent details about their release:

Disney Pixar Die Cast Cars

Have you seen the new pack of relentless collectors in the Disneyana community?  They are the Disney Cars collectors and they have created a very competitive market for their collectibles.  In fact, it is amazing what a Disney movie can do for a seemingly outdated niche.  I used to collect die cast cars as a kid (although I must admit I wrecked a few in my time), but this was before the era of remote control cars, video games, and other advances in the toy market.  It would have guessed that the advent of new toy technologies would force the die cast car market into a slow death.  This may have been true a few years ago, but the Disney Pixar collaboration with the movie “Cars” has changed that. Disney Movie Posters

An often overlooked niche of Disneyana collecting is Disney Movie Posters.  Vintage posters from 1950 or before can command prices in the tens of thousands of dollars.  This may be a bit too expensive for the average collector, but contemporary posters offer more accessibility with prices in the hundreds of dollars.  There are so many memorable Disney movies to choose from, which makes this niche of Disneyana both exciting and bountiful.

First Disney Film: Alice’s Spooky Adventure

I always enjoy hearing from other collectors on what they feel is the centerpiece of their collection.  Phil Sears has a great website that indexes his impressive collection, and he nominates this letter as his favorite piece.

The letter contains the details of the Walt Disney’s contract with a young woman named Virginia Davis, who starred as Alice in a series of productions chronicling Alice’s adventures in an animated world.  A detailed story behind the letter and a number of pictures are included, making this a must-see destination for all Disneyana collectors.
